The refuge is situated in Thures, the largest of the hamlets in the Thuras valley (high valley of Susa). The village is an integral part of an unspoilt natural environment with a specific beauty, an abundant variety of flowers and many wild animals.
Thures is also a point of interest because of its large stone houses, haylofts and larch roofs.
The refuge is situated in the square opposite a beautiful octagonal fountain dated 1623 with symbols of the Dauphine etched in the stone. The building, originally from 1714 was restored in the 90’s whilst retaining many of the original features and using materials and techniques of old.
